In Nigeria, the Punch newspaper reports a professor from University of Ilorin has successfully produced biodiesel by using eggshells as a catalyst for transesterification in an effort to increase the availability of locally available products for biofuel production. She said using eggshells would help to increase the economic viability of the domestic poultry indsutry while reducing waste. She also is promoting pyrolisis of biomass to add further options for local biofuel production that would in turn increase job opportunities for engineers.
