In India, the Hindu Business Line newspaper reports oil marketing company will secure more than 3 billion liters of ethanol from dedicated ethanol plants across eight states that are under development. About 970 million liters will come from Tamil Nadu alone. The agreements require the facilities to supply the first tranche of ethanol within two years. Corn has been prioritized as the main feedstock, but other feedstocks include cassava and mixtures of corn, including broken corn, and rice, including broken rice, as well as sugar-based feedstocks.
