In Oregon, the Portland Business Journal reports the Department of Environmental Quality staff have proposed to increase the required carbon intensity reduction for fuels by 2035 to 37% compared to 2015 levels, beyond the governor’s proposal for 25% by that date. The current clean fuels law that was enacted six years ago has a current decarbonization reduction of 10% by 2025. Environmental activists want even deeper cuts while the fossil fuels lobby has questioned the proposal’s legality.
