#10 FuelCell Energy signs off on 2.8 MW fuel-cell facility powered by biogas in California

In Connecticut, FuelCellWorks has reported that FuelCellEnergy has announced the start of the commercial operation 2.8-megawatt fuel cell project at the Tulare wastewater treatment facility in California. The power plant was previously flared using the methane-rich biogas, which wasted significant energy and produced emissions. The fuel cell method significantly reduces the production of NOx, SOx, and particulate matter, which cumulatively will reduce the carbon emission profile in the San Joaquin Valley. The president and CEO of FuelCell Energy reinstated these benefits by stating their technology also assists their “partners by providing a negative carbon footprint that supports offset emissions from their other forms of power generation.”
