PETA endorses Indian company for use of biobased leather

In India, P A Footwear has unveiled belts made from Vegan Virya, a leather substitute made from sugarcane waste that was developed by India’s National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology.

P A Footwear, which has grown to manufacture 2 million pairs of shoes and shoe uppers annually, also received the “PETA-Approved Vegan” labeled from PETA India.  “Our mission revolves around the principle of ‘Wealth from Waste,’ a fundamental tenet guiding us towards our vision,” PA Footwear Vice Chair Chinnasami Anbumalar told PETA India.
