Purus scores two new gas ships for ammonia haul

September 26, 2024 |

In Norway, Purus ordered two 45,000 cbm dual-fuel ammonia-ready medium-sized gas carriers from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea to expand its fleet and enhance its role in sustainable energy transport, with delivery expected in 2027.

This purchase, part of Purus’s strategy to lead in clean energy logistics, will add to its growing ammonia transport fleet, which already includes three operational 40,000 cbm vessels and four 45,000 cbm ships scheduled for delivery by 2026. The newly ordered vessels will feature advanced cargo handling systems to minimize turnaround times at port, increasing efficiency.

Purus has already demonstrated its capabilities in ammonia transfer, positioning itself as a key player in the industry. Additionally, the company’s Purus-Bluewater initiative, offering Clean Energy Floating Storage and Offloading solutions for low-carbon ammonia, clean hydrogen, and carbon capture utilisation and storage, further cements its leadership in the transition to cleaner energy.
