In Brazil, Raízen, Shell and SENAI announced an investment for the construction of the Bioenergy Center, located in the planned neighborhood of Reserva Jequitibá, in Piracicaba. The groundbreaking event marked the beginning of construction on the modern set of laboratories and pilot plants, which will be located at the epicenter of the agribusiness innovation ecosystem, close to startups, companies and universities that are relevant to the country.
The new Center’s mission is to develop decarbonization solutions from sugarcane. In the first five years, the Bioenergy Center’s research will focus on efficiency and sustainability gains in the production process of Second Generation Ethanol (E2G), produced on a commercial scale in the country.
The Bioenergy Center will receive an initial investment of approximately R$120 million, of which R$72 million will be financed by Shell Brasil, through resources from the Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) clause of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).
