Repsol to invest $133 million to transform a plant to produce biodiesel

In Spain, La Vanguardia reported that Spanish oil company Repsol will invest $133 million to transform a unit of its plant in Puertollano with the aim of producing biodiesel from 2025.

This was announced by the CEO of Repsol, Josu Jon Imaz, during the presentation to analysts of the company’s results during the first half of 2023.

Repsol’s plans to produce nearly 200,000 tons of biodiesel in its Puertollano plant per year, which will be sold at its service stations, according to the report.

Currently, Repsol’s production of low-emission fuel reaches 700,000 tons per year. Repsol expects to produce two million tons of fuels with a low carbon footprint in 2030, the report added.
