Rosatom plans to launch hydrogen plant in 2029

March 7, 2024 |

In Austria, Baha News reported that Russian national nuclear energy company Rosatom plans to open a hydrogen production plant in the island of Sakhalin by 2029. The report noted that the future hydrogen plant will have an annual production capacity of 36,500 tons of blue hydrogen. “We are currently working on an investment feasibility study, and we are in fact moving toward taking an investment decision. The matter of guaranteeing sales of hydrogen fully is currently open, because the benchmark is the countries of Asia, primarily China and South Korea. There are partners with whom preliminary agreements have been concluded, though more work obviously needs to be completed to sign formal, firm agreements in order to take an investment decision,” a company executive said.
