In Singapore, LNG Prime reports Singapore’s LNG bunkering sales reached a new record of 51,662 metric tons in June. According to the report, this new record surpasses the previous records of 17,920 mt in June 2023 and 48,752 mt in May 2024.
Throughout the first half of 2024, LNG bunkering volumes totaled 211,877 mt, marking a 91.1% increase from the 110,850 mt recorded for the entirety of 2023. This growth is attributed to the addition of new bunkering vessels, the expanding global fleet of LNG-powered ships, and lower LNG fuel prices, as noted by LNG Prime.
According to the report, Singapore’s FueLNG, a joint venture between Shell and Seatrium, played a significant role in this surge. In June, FueLNG completed its 200th ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation. FueLNG Bellina, Singapore’s first LNG bunkering vessel, began operations in March 2021. Another vessel, FueLNG Venosa, started operations in June 2023, further boosting bunkering capacity.
Additionally, Pavilion Energy, soon to be acquired by Shell, has also contributed significantly with its LNG bunkering vessel, Brassavola, which began operations in February 2024. Both FueLNG and Pavilion have been actively conducting truck-to-ship LNG bunkering operations since obtaining their licenses from MPA in 2016, according to LNG Prime.
