In France, precision fermentation startup Standing Ovation has raised €3.75 million ($4.2 million) in a Series A extension and appointed Yvan Chardonnens CEO as it prepares commercial launch of its animal free casein in 2025.
The company says its process manufactures caseins that are bioidentical to those found in dairy products but emit 94% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
“I am excited to be joining such an innovative company at the forefront of its sector, with the potential to have a positive impact on our food ecosystems and deliver solutions to climate challenges,” Chardonnens told Green Queen. Chardonnens has held previously worked at Oterra, Firmenich, IFF, Unilever, Barry Callebaut, and Roquette.
Investors include Astanor Ventures, Peakbridge, Seventure Partners, Good Startup and Big Idea Ventures.
