#5 DSM and Chenyang launch eco-friendly paint solution with 49% bio-renewable content

In the Netherlands, Royal DSM and Chenyang Group, a global manufacturer of environmentally friendly paints and coatings, have plans to collaborate more extensively to drive sustainable coating solutions in the Chinese market. In particular, Chenyang launched a new eco-friendly paint solution for indoor wall applications based on DSM’s Decovery SP-8407. By using the Decovery SP-8407 resin with 49% bio-renewable content, Chenyang has been able to create a new eco-friendly paint for indoor wall paint applications with good scrub and stain resistance.

Paint solutions based on plant-based Decovery resins can enable a 34% carbon footprint reduction compared to conventional alternatives, as well as containing zero-to-low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Liu Zhanchuan, CEO of Chenyang Group: “DSM and Chenyang share a strong vision of what the coatings industry should look like, and how we can enable this transformation. As such, we’re very pleased to step up our collaboration with DSM – a partner with a demonstrated history of delivering highly sustainable innovations, such as the Decovery family of resins. At Chenyang, we’re convinced that plant-based paints can help ensure the healthiest air for our children, while also helping to protect our wider environment.”
