#4 Nestlé launches biodegradable snack bar wrapper

In the United Kingdom, Nestlé is launching biodegradable paper wrappers for chocolate bars as it overhauls its packaging mix to reduce plastics use. Its Yes! snack bars in Europe will be the first to use the wrappers, with a US launch soon to follow. The paper is certified by The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification of the Forest Stewardship Council.

The wrapper was developed by its Nestlé’s R&D team in York. “This launch is the result of a lot of hard work at speed with our R&D teams delivering a recyclable paper solution for our YES! bars in less than ten months,” says Jas Scott de Martinville, the Global Confectionery lead for the Nestlé R&D. “It is an incredible achievement and one that we are all very proud of.”
