#5 Origami-inspired paper razor set to launch in Japan

In Japan, blade maker Kai will soon introduce what it claims to be the world’s first paper razor.

The razor’s design is inspired by origami and milk carton packaging. Consumers receive the blade and flatpack, water-resistant handle, which they have to fold into shape themselves.

“Paper Razor aims to transform the razor into a plastic-free item and reduce plastic emissions,” Kai tells dezeen.com. “We adopted paper for the handle and metal for the blade and head. It is made of 98% paper and two per cent paint. Only the blade part, including the entire head, is made of metal.”

Paper Razor will be launched on April 22—Earth Day.
