
#10 Ulstein Design & Solutions BV and Nedstack announce fuel-cell support vessel to decarbonize the marine sector
In the Netherlands, Rivieramm reported that Ulstein Design & Solutions BV and Dutch fuel-cell company Nedstack announced that their fuel-cell-powered construction support vessel should be in the water in less than three years, based on existing technology. The ship is capable of operating for four days in “zero-emission mode,” but the ship’s designer stated that rapid advancements in hydrogen storage and fuel cell technology could make the zero-emission endurance of up to two weeks possible. The product manager of the project stated that these steps are necessary if the marine industry is to move into a more sustainable future.
