TerraX and SWEN Impact Fund create JV to invest in Italian biomethane sector

In Italy, TerraX srl and the SWEN Impact Fund for Transition managed by SWEN Capital Partners, announce the creation of a joint entity to invest in Italy in the biomethane sector.

TerraX is led by biogas expert and pioneer Michael NIEDERBACHER, who has designed and built more than 220 units in 12 countries around the world. SWEN Impact Fund for Transition is the first European impact fund entirely dedicated
to the financing of renewable gas infrastructure.

The joint venture will build and operate more than 10 biomethane projects to produce renewable gas on Italian soil, which will be injected into the networks or marketed as bioLNG. The objective is to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector, while at the same time recovering waste from the farmers and reducing the use of chemical fertilizers. Once operational in 2022, the plants will produce enough energy to supply 1000 heavy trucks and reduce emissions by 90%.
