In Thailand, the country’s private sector has stepped up to the plate with a strong participation in the auction to dispose of spoiled and low quality rice stocks, which can be used as an ethanol feedstock. On average, ethanol producers pay around 6 cents per kg while animal feed producers pay about three times as much. A total of 240,000 metric tons were sold during the auction, purchased by nine companies. A total of 360,000 tons were made available at the auction.
