#4 Polish company develops energy bars for bees

In Poland, Saatchi & Saatchi IS Warsaw has created paper that acts like an energy bar for bees—fortifying the vital workers and, hopefully, reducing the global bee die-off.

Together with urban beekeeping group City Bee, Saatchi & Saatchi IS Warsaw developed a biodegradable paper that contains glucose and honey plant seeds. The glucose fortifies bees against exhaustion—urbanization forces them to fly longer distances to look for food—and the seeds in the paper sprout into  a particularly bee-friendly plant.

The paper, which attracts bees by resembling a meadow in color and pattern, can be used in everyday items such as coffee cup sleeves and takeaway bags. About 90% of all wild plants rely on bees for pollination.
