Now: After 14 years in engineering roles, I had decided to strike out on my own. This is month 6 of my journey in the ethanol business. Very interesting and BiofuelsDigest is a big contributor to my steep learning curve to try to understand and appreciate the complexities of this business.
Inspirations: Having worked in environmentally friendly technologies for the last 9 years, this is a continuation of my commitment to making the world better for future generations. I like the technology and the focus on efficiency and continuous improvement. Plus, the determination and resilience of those in the industry who have stuck it out through times when there was little public support and confidence in the technology was low (still is for cellulosic ethanol) – I like to work with people who are strong in their convictions for the right reasons. Policy paralysis is the most challenging, everything else is just an interesting problem to be fixed with diverse skill sets. Development and implementation of policy is fraught with political potholes and speed bumps. Would prefer to remain anonymous.
