Last Years Predictions

From last year’s predictions, we scored a pretty respectable 8.5 out of 10.

We gave ourselves a full mark for picking the rise of interest in cannabis and hemp, the opportunities around gas, the Asian upsurge, jet fuel deployment, the rise of flavors & fragrances as high-value apps, the surge in AI-based technologies, and the return of cellulosic fuel projects, and the all-importance of Fooooooood (which we picked as the #1 trend for 2018, and did not disappoint from the surge of Impossible Foods to the Beyond Meat IPO).

We gave ourselves a half mark for picking Canada as a real focal point — the LCFS is coming, but more slowly than hoped. And we gave ourselves a miss on picking the rise of nanocellulose as a new platform — we think that day is coming, but not nearly as soon as we had hoped had the all-important applications appeared.
