#3 The Digest’s Biofuels Mandates Around the World 2021

Every year, The Digest releases its annual review of biofuels mandates and targets around the world, looking at the state of biofuels mandates in 65 countries and this 2021 story was of great interest to Digest readers all around the world.

The bulk of mandates continue to come from the EU-27. 14 countries in the Americas have mandates or targets in place or under consideration, 12 in Asia-Pac, 11 in Africa and the Indian Ocean, and an increase over last year with 4 from non-EU countries in Europe. Besides the EU, the major blending mandates that will drive global demand are those set in the U.S., India, Brazil with Malaysia and Indonesia becoming major players on the diesel side – each of which has set targets – or in the case of Brazil, is already there.
