In Germany, Uniper and a major international industrial gas producer recently signed a nine-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Deliveries will start in 2025 with an initial annual volume of 25 GWh. This volume will triple to 75 GWh from 2027 until the end of the contract in 2033.
The green power supplied will accelerate the decarbonisation of a large German industrial region. Specifically, it will be used to produce green hydrogen, Uniper said.
“Climate change is forcing companies to reduce their CO2 emissions. This contract demonstrates Uniper’s ability to meet customer needs and confirms its role as a reliable partner in the energy transition. Our flexible energy generation assets support the restructuring of the energy industry while ensuring security of supply. We are delighted that our PPA is helping to accelerate the decarbonisation of a large German industrial region. This is another step on Uniper’s path towards becoming a leading provider of green molecules and power products,” said Carsten Poppinga, CCO at Uniper
