Uruguay looking to boost ethanol and biodiesel production

In Uruguay, Medios Publicos reports the government is studying the possibility of increasing the mixture of ethanol in gasoline as well as resuming the use of biodiesel in diesel.

Current regulations provide for a mixture of bioethanol in gasoline of at least 8.5%, even through the current blend in reality is closer to 9.8%. Biodiesel may be brought back at 2.5% even though it was at 5% previous to 2022 when blending was dropped all together to lower prices at the pump.
