US biomethane production for shipping could hit 4.4M tons annually by 2030

In New York state, Platts reports that US green methanol producers expect to reach 4.4 million metric tons per year of production availability for shipping over the next decade. The Inflation Reduction Act is helping to drive investment. SunGas plans to produce 400,000 tons/year at six sites around the country, investing around $9 billion, while WasteFuel is planning 10-12 40,000-80,000 mt/year biomethanol plants. Carbonsink plans for its first 100,000 mt/year facility in South Dakota by 2028.
