USDA to invest $400,000 to update GHG emissions model so ethanol is included in SAF subsidies

In Washington, Reuters reports that the Agriculture Secretary has confirmed the USDA will invest up to $400,000 to update the federal greenhouse gas emissions modeling to ensure corn-based ethanol is included as a feedstock pathway in future sustainable aviation fuel subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act. Although the secretary is in favor of the GREET model, the White House remains divided over its use to calculate feedstocks’ eligibility for subsidies
