In India, cooperative sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh are looking at adding on ethanol and co-generation production to help boost the efficiency of the mills. At least four coops are looking at ethanol while two are studding co-gen, with proposals for the latter awaiting approval from the state’s public investment board. One of the mills would produce 15MW with 10MW going to the national grid. The four mills where ethanol production is being explored already produce rectified spirits.
