In India, the Times of India newspaper reports that will more than 100 ethanol distilleries, Uttar Pradesh is preparing to become the country’s largest ethanol-producing state when the new season kicks off in November, surpassing Maharashtra. Currently 85 distilleries are online but there are 15 under construction that will begin production in the next few months. In the next three years, the state government hopes that number will increase to 140 in part thanks to its promotion of grain-based ethanol.
