Viking Line to run entirely on LBG for a week

August 22, 2024 |

In Sweden, Finnish cruise- and ferry company Viking Line will reduce emissions by 90% on its Stockholm-Turku route by running its vessels, Viking Glory and Viking Grace, entirely on liquefied biogas (LBG) for one week, from August 29 to September 4. This initiative, starting on Baltic Sea Day, marks the launch of the first green shipping corridor on the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland. By using LBG instead of the usual liquefied natural gas (LNG), the ships will emit 2,600 fewer tons of greenhouse gases, equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of 270 Finns.
