W2Fuel begins shutting down due to biodiesel production credit uncertainty

In Iowa, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that W2Fuel has decided to close its doors in part because of the uncertainty around the $1 per gallon biodiesel production credit which is required to offset the required upgrade investments. The facility was originally mothballed in 2019 when the biodiesel credit last expired and took until 2021 for it to come back online after renewing the credit later in 2019 that was then retractive. Shutting down is almost complete, a process which already began a few months ago.
