In Washington, Reuters reports the White House is trying to bide its time when it comes to making the decision about regional higher ethanol blending level despite pressure from Midwest ethanol-producing states to allow it. The oil industry has warned that allowing E15 in the eight states whose governors specifically requested the higher blend would cause regional supply disruption. It is possible that the delay is due to concerns that supply disruptions would raise pump prices and therefore hurt Biden’s chance of reelection.
