In China, Xinhua news agency reports that the world’s largest ethanol production facility, producing 600,000 metric tons of ethanol annually, is currently being trialed in Huaibei City, east China’s Anhui Province. The facility uses coke oven gas as feedstock using technology developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum. The technology has been licensed to 13 companies so far, including two outside of China.
